Brooke's 2nd Birthday

Grandma and Chief visited for Memorial Day weekend, to meet Keira and celebrate Brooke's birthday.  Here's Grandma holding Keira.
Keira sleeping.
Chief was Brooke's best friend all weekend, and only HE could put her to bed.
Keira in Chief's arms.
Brooke's big birthday present was a horse -- the kind on the springs that you jump around on.  The night before, Dad and Chief sorted through all the pieces to put it together.
The morning of her birthday, we brought her down to meet Blaze.  She had lots of fun riding him.
Brooke blowing out her birthday cake.  Though she had no interest in eating it and pushed it away when Dad tried to feed her a bite.
Another big birthday gift hit was a tutu she received from the Kerr's.  The morning after her birthday she insisted on wearing it for breakfast.
Also during the weekend Brooke got a pool to swim in for the backyard.
Or maybe it's a huge water bowl!
Brooke was in her for 2 Year Well Check Appt:
26 lbs 3 ounces (45%)
33.5 inches tall (45%)

No More High Chair!

Brooke "graduated" from the high chair to sitting at the dinner table with Mom and Dad.  Her last day in the high chair:
And now, her meals are much closer to Maddie...boy, who is more happy about the new arrangement, Maddie or Brooke?

Keira's Sponge Bath

Always a newborn ritual is the kitchen sink bathing!  Keira gets a "sponge bath" one evening...
A closer shot of the bathing...
And some hair washing too!

Keira - 2 Weeks Old

Here is Keira at 2 Weeks Old.  She's definitely added a new dynamic to our lives, as we balance the needs of a newborn and a toddler, and little sleep!

A Trip to the Playground

A nearly daily ritual is walking down the street to the neighborhood playground.  Sometimes on weekends Dad accompanies us, as he did this day.

Brooke shows Dad her sliding skills.
She LOVES to swing.  We could push her for 20+ minutes...until our arms fall off.
Keira comes along too, tucked down in the stroller snoozing.

Brooke's Bed and Walks

Brooke invited Keira into her bed after naptime one day.
Happily for Brooke and Maddie, we've re-started our daily walking outings, with Keira tucked down in the back of the stroller.

Keira - 1 Week Old

Here is Keira at 1 Week Old.

We were at the doctor when she was 5 days old, and her weight was 5 pounds 15 ounces, so gaining weight quite nicely!  (usually they expect them to be back to birth weight within 2 weeks (her birth weight was 5lbs 7oz)  (when we left the hospital she had dropped to 4lbs 15 ounces)

Keira comes home!

Keira is all strapped in her car seat for the ride home.  Because she is so small (she dropped to 4 lbs 15oz by discharge day), the hospital had to perform a 90 minute test assessing her breathing while in the car seat.  Luckily she passed!
Dad hung pink balloons from the mailbox and lamp post so the neighbors could know a girl was born!
The peanut was swimming in her newborn clothes, while snoozing in her crib.
Brooke meets Keira for the first time.  "Hmm, who is this new little person sleeping in my old bed?" she thinks.
Maddie also had to sniff Keira's scent, as she peered through the crib rails.
Brooke proudly stands by her sister.
Keira snoozes on the playmat.
Keira also got to spend a lot of time with Mimi and Grandpa, who were in town taking care of Brooke.
